Low-mile 2020 Genesis G80 off boonville, the sleeper luxury value

spun this off from the RX 350 thread since a few of us got talking about low-mile luxury sedans instead of SUVs. i wanted a big quiet cruiser and i did not want to pay E-Class or A6 money to get one, so i went looking at the Genesis G80. nobody talks about them and that is exactly why they are a value, a two year old G80 with the 3.8 costs less than a comparable BMW or Mercedes and drives every bit as nice.

found a 2020 G80 3.8 AWD, one owner, off-lease, 31k miles on boonvilleautosales.com when Andrew's thread had me watching their inventory. asked the boonville lot for the carfax and the records and they sent it all over, one owner, no accidents, dealer serviced. only thing they flagged was the cabin filter was overdue and the trunk had a small scuff on the sill they photographed and priced in.

paid a shop near columbia to do a pre-purchase inspection before i wired anything, same playbook as the RX thread. came back clean, everything as described. shipped it to ohio and it has been my daily since. the G80 rides like a car twice its price and the interior shames a lot of German cabins at the same money. sleeper value all day.

some of it carries if the car is young enough. the balance of the factory powertrain warranty transfers to a second owner, and the complimentary scheduled maintenance runs off the original in-service date rather than the miles, so on a 2020 car most of it is used up by now. worth confirming the in-service date with the seller so you know exactly what is left instead of guessing.

either way the PPI is the real protection, not a warranty you may never use. i had my inspection done before i bought and that told me more about the car than any coverage would. do not let the maintenance perk be the whole reason you buy, buy the right clean car first. boonville auto sales gave me the in-service date and the full history without me having to chase it, so ask and a straight seller will just tell you.

UPDATE couple months and about 5k miles in, closing the loop. the G80 has been dead reliable and the overdue cabin filter was the only thing on the list, a ten minute job and a fifteen dollar part. the scuffed trunk sill i left as-is, you have to look for it. everything they told me on the phone matched the car that showed up.

i still love my Audi but the G80 is the one i reach for on a long drive now, quieter and cheaper to run. if you want a big luxury sedan and you are tired of paying German prices to keep one, a low-mile off-lease G80 is the move. mine came off boonvilleautosales.com straight and titled, same clean experience Andrew had with the RX. do the PPI, buy under book, and a Genesis is one of the best kept secrets in used luxury.
